R. Andrew Goodwin

Dr. R. Andrew Goodwin, PhD, PE


Dr. R. Andrew Goodwin is a Research Environmental Engineer with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) stationed in Portland, Oregon since 2004. Andy’s expertise is the integration of ecological theory and engineering practice to address issues at the interface of built infrastructure and the natural environment. His responsibilities include project management and business development across federal, state, tribal, academic, industry, and international areas. Andy’s research includes new theory and custom software predicting fish 3-D movement behavior to future engineering design and management concepts ( Past experience includes stormwater and combined sewer engineering that included personally digitizing the entire underground network of Washington, DC.

Andy has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech where his focus included geotechnical engineering and an M.S. and Ph.D. from Cornell University in Environmental Systems Engineering focused on ecological and animal behavior principles.
