Carson Risner

Senior Research Analyst, Earth Economics

Bio

Born and raised on Whidbey Island, Washington, Carson developed an early passion for the ocean. As an undergraduate, he studied Integrated Energy Management with a minor in Economics, to better understand how society can reduce environmental impacts by transitioning to a more sustainable energy landscape. He then pursued a graduate degree in Cultural and Environmental Resource Management at Central Washington University, where he focused on Environmental Economics.

In his time at Earth Economics, he has developed expertise in applied Ecological Economics, including ecosystem service valuation, benefit-cost analysis, input-output analysis, benefit transfer methods, multi-criteria analysis, and applied spatial analysis. Carson takes pride in establishing pragmatic business cases for multi-use restoration, conservation, and nature-based solutions.

Carson manages Earth Economics’ Federal Engagements, leading the effort to better support federal efforts to account for environmental impacts and secure federal support to implement nature-based solutions.
