Eileen Shader

Senior Director, Floodplain Restoration, American Rivers

Bio

Eileen joined American Rivers in October, 2006. In 2015 she relocated to her home state of Pennsylvania where she leads American Rivers’ national floodplain restoration program. Eileen spent most of her career at American Rivers in our Washington, DC office advocating to Congress and the federal government to support sound floodplain management policies. Prior to joining American Rivers she held positions at National Wildlife Federation, the National Environmental Trust, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Eileen is a Certified Floodplain Manager and works to reconnect rivers to their floodplains and restore natural floodplain habitats.

Education: B.S. in Environmental Science from Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, an M.A. in Environmental and Natural Resource Policy from The George Washington University, and a Certificate in Floodplain Management.
