Ms. Margaret Owensby is a Research Hydraulic Engineer at the Engineer Research and Development Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Princeton University (2013) and an M.S. in Civil Engineering at the University of Notre Dame (2016). Since joining the Corps in 2016, she has specialized in coastal modeling and data analysis, and has worked on a variety of projects to aid decision-making for both government and military agencies. Margaret is a member of the Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory’s Coastal Storm (CSTORM) Modeling team, which uses coupled numerical models to simulate the hydrodynamic impacts of storm events in coastal regions. She has been involved with a number of EWN projects and initiatives, including the development and testing of the EWN Modeling Toolkit (designed to facilitate rapid incorporation of NBS into modeling frameworks), the Deer Island Restoration project, and collaborative research with the University of Georgia as part of the Network of Engineering With Nature (N-EWN).
Engineering With Nature® is the intentional alignment of natural and engineering processes to efficiently and effectively deliver economic, ecological, and social benefits through collaboration.
