Bringing over ten years of geographical information system (GIS) experience with her, Martha joined our digital solutions team in 2022. During her time in graduate school, Martha developed a passion for soil health and sustainable practices. Over her career Martha has applied her remote sensing expertise to many projects including cover crops monitoring with satellite imagery—using imaging spectroscopy to create high resolution predictions of soil functionality across complex landscapes, evaluation of plant traits across diverse biomes, and identification of flooded areas after natural disasters.
Martha has experience working with many different types of remote sensing data including thermal, lidar, and hyperspectral imagery. Experienced in big data analytics and machine learning, she enjoys bringing her skills to GIS projects. She also enjoys using GIS techniques in science outreach and education activities.
When she’s not working on soil projects, Martha likes to cook delicious food and go hiking with her dogs, Nox and Franklin.
