Steven Bailey

Landscape Architect, Coastal & Hydraulics Laboratory, ERDC

Bio

Steven Bailey is a landscape architect with the ERDC Coastal Hydraulics Laboratory and a strategic integration coordinator for the Engineering With Nature (EWN) program. In this role, he creates communication graphics, conceptual designs, and facilitates collaboration across the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Department of Defense, academic institutions and industry partners. Additionally he plays a key role in coordinating outreach efforts and events for the Network for Engineering With Nature, working closely with their excellent team to advance EWN principles.

Steven received his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design from Auburn University and a Master of Landscape Architecture from Mississippi State University. Throughout his education, he focused on large-scale ecological systems and their connections to site-specific design decisions in support of the Engineering With Nature initiative. He leverages this knowledge to advance his passion for environmentally conscious anthropogenic development, with a particular emphasis on water management.

Steven lives in Vicksburg, MS, and finds profound joy in immersing himself in the great outdoors. His days are spent observing, sketching, and studying the environment around him, seamlessly blending work with play. For Steven, the art of living is about harmonizing his passions with his profession—he believes that true mastery is achieved when one is paid to do what they love. To him, work and play are not separate entities but rather two sides of the same coin. This holistic approach allows him to fully engage with his surroundings and find inspiration in every moment, making his professional pursuits as fulfilling as his leisure activities.
