Dr. Todd Bridges Briefs LTG Thomas Bostick, USACE Commanding General.

Drs. Todd Bridges and Jarrell Smith brief LTG Thomas Bostick, USACE Commanding General, on 28 AUG 14. Dr. Bridges presented a poster titled “Engineering With Nature and Natural and Nature-Based Features: A Path to Sustainable Projects and Benefits” which described the USACE Engineering With Nature Program and broad topics including environmental sustainability, coastal resilience, beneficial use of dredged material, strategic sediment placement and technology transfer.

Dr. Smith demonstrated the Sediment Erosion with Depth Flume (Sedflume) and the Particle Imaging Camera System (PICS) both state-of-the-science devices and methods that enable scientists and engineers to perform quantitative measurements of sediment transport processes in the laboratory and the field.
