Singapore Water Webinar Series | The International Guidelines on Natural and Nature-Based Features Continue to Reach an International Audience

Purpose

Dr. Jane Smith, emeritus senior research scientist for USACE and an expert in modeling coastal and hydraulic processes, recently presented at the Singapore Water Webinar Series. She shared the role of natural and nature-based features for flood risk management. She points participants to the International Guidelines on NNBF – an internationally written publication providing essential information on incorporating natural features such as dunes, wetlands, islands, reefs, and aquatic plants as part of flood risk management strategies. NNBF provide both engineering function as well as social, environmental, and economic benefits.

For those interested in exploring the international NNBF guidelines further, download the Guidelines here.
