“Radical Collaboration” for Coastal Solutions

  • news, UFL

Our partners at the University of Florida recently hosted a year-end summit to reflect on progress and actional next steps towards coastal resilience. Joined by EWN National Lead, Jeff King, the summit emphasized the value of collaborative efforts to tackle emerging risks in coastal communities. Jeff highlighted the exponential growth of the EWN community, an inclusive network focused on nature-based solutions for natural hazards to support resilient communities and military installations.

Mark S. Osler from NOAA shared perspectives on coastal resilience challenges, emphasizing the need for multi-sector collaboration and workforce development. Notably, Dr. Osler’s stance on “conditional optimism” highlighted our ability to drive change, drawing parallels to successful global environmental initiatives.

This engagement echoes the collective response needed for coastal challenges. At UF Center for Coastal Solutions, students and scientists are collaborating with agencies like NOAA and USACE on innovative coastal solutions.  Read the full article on the University of Florida Center for Coastal Solutions page.
